Some time, shortly after the end of WW II, Joe Gofford, the father of a friend of mine, was on his way home. One of his ship mates captured this image of him sprawled out on the deck of a troop transport. Its a favorite picture of his daughter who posted it on line one day and indicted wistfully that she wished she had a sketch of it. The pose was so unique with his elongated posture showing off the soles of his shoes, that I decided to indulge her wish with this quick sketch.

This a continuation of the children with balloons series. It was spoken for almost before the paint dried. I struggled with what color to paint the balloons and finally decided not to go outside the palette I had already begun.
