This child is considerably older now but the sweetness of this photo still tells a great story of love between father and son. Over the years I've looked at it many times thinking "I should do something with this". Finally I couldn't resist. The boys hair is not as yellow as it appears but my photo skills are not the best..... Prismacolor pencils on Bristol Vellum 8" X 10"
I photographed this lady in North Vietnam several years ago. Over the years I've come back to look at her numerous times. She was crouched on the bare ground enjoying a cigarette while watching a group of American tourists exploring her village. She never interacted with anyone and I often wondered what she was thinking. I would have liked to hear her story and wish she had shared her memories of the war years.
This didn't turn out as well as I had hoped but it was a learning experience and fun none the less. I've always loved this photo. My niece took it a couple of years ago. She washed for a husband and two sons so there are always lots of jeans in the laundry. During summer she hangs them outside to dry.
It's a good thing I got busy today to clean up some unposted paintings. I just found another one from a trip to France in Dec 2014! Ken was our guide extraordinaire for a lovely cruise down the Seine to visit village Christmas markets. He was terrific.
