Calla Lily - SOLD

Painting something white is not as simple and easy as it might seem. I usually avoid white florals for that reason. At the same time, I want to be able to understand how to paint white and to master the white floral. I'm pretty pleased with how this one evolved. A calla lily is naturally simplistic in design so works very nicely for this experiment. I went back and added a couple of tiny water drops...

Gallery Representation

The Artists Showplace has accepted me as an associate of their gallery. As an artist, I can not think of a better gallery to represent you than this one owned and operated by a group of artists. It's a marvelous gallery and the thought and care that goes into it, is apparent the moment you walk in. For the next two weeks my art is split between two spaces, but once the gallery is rotated in two weeks, they will reside together. The entire gallery is rotated 4 times a year which keeps it fresh and surprising.

Here are a couple of photos of my work hung. The dancers are in the front window so it was difficult to get a good photo. My Blues series over powers it's neighbors at present because of the strong colors. This will all work itself out at rotation. You may notice that the female singer in my Blues series is MIA. She has already found a home in Manhattan NY.

WYO 3248 (SOLD)

I'm calling this one done... finally! I painted this for my brother Tom. Tom took this photo a long time ago and I have been toying with painting it forever. Tom and his wife recently built a mid-century modern style home and this was supposed to hang in the wine cellar. At one point I was ready to throw it out but I kept at it and now I am glad I did. I've included a tiny detail from the hood where I even added the Mercury decal the car owner added to the hood.

A Little Late Nite Jazz - private collection

I'm posting this one just for fun while I start work on another large piece (36" X 48"). This one is still a favorite of mine. It was painted about 3 years ago when I first began painting again after many years. I've kept this small one, though I did paint a larger version which is in someone else's private collection.

Sizzle (SOLD)

The goal here was to break away from all my blue musicians and to do something a little more in the pop art style. I love this rather off kilter crop and while it is really the same color palette as the others, this one relies heavily on the reds and yellows. To understand the impact, this needs to be seen IRL.

Little Girl Lost

This was an expirement in image transfer that I've wanted to try for some time. I had this small canvas in my studio that was a failed painting of a marigold. It has been gathering dust forever so became the perfect choice to learn how this process works. It had been gessoed over long ago. The secondary goal here was to do something more abstract. I rather enjoyed the process (not to mention doing something different) and now think I may use the transfer process in other works....Oh - and the little girl...that's me at age 4 or something.
